    Course Summary: This course is designed for professionals in the criminal justice system, including law enforcement and probation officers, to enhance their understanding and management of individuals with Cluster B Personality Disorders (antisocial, borderline, histrionic, narcissistic). Utilizing a trauma-informed and evidence-based approach, participants will learn to identify typical behaviors and core characteristics associated with these disorders. The curriculum covers the impact of personality disorders on social, occupational, and other important areas of functioning, the correlation between personality disorders and crime, and common co-occurrence with substance abuse. Special emphasis is placed on recognizing escalation signs and employing techniques to deescalate situations effectively. Through this course, attendees will gain practical skills in conflict resolution and avoiding common errors when working with this population, ultimately improving their ability to manage and support individuals with Cluster B Personality Disorders in a professional setting.

    1.) describe what a personality disorder is;

    2.) describe the factors associated with a personality disorder;

    3.) list three techniques that can help deescalate high conflict situations;

    4.) list three behaviours and core characteristics that are typical for each personality disorder
