Course Summary: The PREA Compliance Training is an in-depth course designed to provide sworn staff and administrators with the knowledge and skills to meet the standards of the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). This training explores the history and purpose of PREA while addressing critical topics such as prevention, detection, and reporting of sexual abuse and harassment. Participants will learn to recognize signs that an offender may have been assaulted or abused and understand how to respond appropriately. The course also emphasizes effective communication with diverse offender populations, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and gender-nonconforming individuals, to foster a safe and inclusive environment. Additionally, participants will explore legal liabilities and the professional responsibilities of officers in preventing and addressing sexual abuse incidents. Through interactive activities, case studies, and role-playing, attendees will gain practical strategies to enhance compliance, ensure accountability, and promote safety in their facilities.
